An analytical model was formulated to describe the contaminant species transport and removal by the process, termed as coupled electric-hydraulic gradient assisted by ion exchange medium (CEHIXM). An analytical solution was performed in terms of eigenvalues and compared with the one-dimensional laboratory experimental results. The analytical solutions of the contaminant concentrations agreed to a great extent with experimental results in cylindrical compacted soil specimens of 10 cm long and 3.45 cm in diameter for a narrow range of eigenvalues. High correlations between analytical and experimental results demonstrated the validity of the associated equation formalisms and the analytical solutions for the species transport and removal under the effects of coupled electric-hydraulic gradient that can used to describe the contaminant species transport and removal by the CEHIXM processes.
