Neuroleptic malignant syndrome is an emergency condition produced as an ill effect of certain drugs. Tetrad of symptoms includes fever, muscle rigidity, autonomic features, and altered mental status. Pathophysiology underlying this condition is dopamine receptor blockade or depletion of dopamine.
