While proponents of wokeism argue that it fosters empathy, raises awareness of social justice issues and promotes solidarity among marginalised individuals, critics contend that it stifles open discourse, prioritises identity politics over merit and contributes to an "us versus them" mentality. This article explores the complexities of wokeism, its strengths and challenges, the impact on society, and the emergence of Woke capitalism. Recommendations for policy makers, institutions, and employers to address the challenges of wokeism are also discussed.
