Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing serious health conditions, such as heart disease, stroke. It's a complex condition that involves abnormalities in metabolism, including issues with blood sugar, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and fat distribution. Metabolic syndrome is a collection of five interrelated risk factors that occur together and elevate a person's risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), diabetes, and other health problems. These risk factors are excess fat around the abdomen, often measured by waist circumference. This type of fat, especially visceral fat, is associated with a higher risk of metabolic complications.
