Antidepressants are a cornerstone of treatment for individuals suffering from depression and other mood disorders. These medications can alleviate symptoms, improve quality of life, and empower individuals to engage fully in their daily activities. This article will explore the types of antidepressants, their mechanisms of action, common uses, potential side effects, and important considerations for patients. Antidepressants are a class of medications designed to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and some other psychiatric conditions. They work by altering the balance of neurotransmitters-chemical messengers in the brain-that affect mood and emotional state.
