Noor Shazili obtained his PhD in Aquatic Toxicology from the University of Wales Institutre of Science and Technology, Cardiff, United Kingdom in 1984. Since then Dr. Shazili has been with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia as a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science. He has previously served as the Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, Director of the Institute of Oceanography and the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs of the university. Presently he is a senior Professor at the Institute of Oceanography and Environment, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. He heads the Research Cluster for Oceanography of the university. Throughout his academic career he has focussed his research on the distribution of metals in the marine environment and their toxicity to aquatic organisms.
