Biography

Sarmistha Talukdar received her BS (2005) and MS (2007) degree in Botany from Calcutta University, India where she graduated as a gold medalist. She completed her PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India (2013), where she worked on the development of 3D in vitro tissue modeling using stem cells, primary cells and cancer cells. She then moved to the Virginia Commonwealth University, VA, USA where she started as a Post-doctoral fellow. She is currently working on understanding and targeting cancer stem cells. She also serves as an invited reviewer of Cancer Biology and Therapy.
