Biography

I am a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, Korea University. I received my M.D. in 1987 and PhD in Psychiatry in 1998, both from Korea University. My professional activities extend beyond the area of pure clinical or research work. I have well over 170 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, including Biological Psychiatry, Molecular Psychiatry, Clinical Journal of Psychiatry, and Progress in Neuropsychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry and 20 publications of book chapters and have made over 50 academic presentations in my area of interest. I am a fellow of Collogicum Internationale Neuropsychopharmacologicum (CINP) (2004-present), International Society for Affective Disorders (ISAD) (2006-present), World Federation of the Society of biological Psychiatry (WFSBP). I currently sit on the editorial boards of some leading academic journals in the field of neurobiology, including Progress in Neuropsychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, Psychiatry Investigation, World Journal Psychiatry, Annals of Depression and Anxiety, Psychiatry Journal and so on. I received 15 prestigious international and domestic awards such as the Astrageneca Award from the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association in 2007, Research Award from the Korean Society of Depression and Bipolar Disorder in 2003, and the Dr. Paul Janssen Schizophrenia Research Award in 1999.
