Harish Chandra Pal

Biography

Dr. Harish Chandra Pal is a Research Associate at Department of Dermatology, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences (Bio-Technology) in 2011 from Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab, India. During his doctoral research he worked on the discovery of new molecules for prevention and treatment of cancer. He was awarded with Senior Research Fellowship in 2008 from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India during his doctoral research at Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu, India. In 2011, Dr. Pal joined the Department of Dermatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The focus of his research work is to identify critical cellular and molecular targets involved in skin cancer, photo-carcinogenesis, melanoma and inflammatory skin diseases like psoriasis. He has demonstrated that phytochemicals and dietary agents impart preventive/therapeutic effects against cancers in cell culture and animal models relevant to human diseases. He has considerable experience in the area of carcinogenesis and cancer prevention with emphasis on cellular and molecular approaches. He has published more than 25 research articles as author/co-author in reputed international journals of skin and cancer research such as Oncotarget, British Journal of Dermatology, Experimental Dermatology, Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, Photochemistry and Photobiology, PLoS One, Chemico-Biological Interactions, European Journal of Cancer, Toxicology in Vitro, Molecular pharmaceutics, Molecules and others. Dr. Pal holds membership of Society of Investigative Dermatology (SID), American Association of Cancer Research (AACR). He is the potential reviewer in more than 15 peer reviewed international journals that publish high-quality scientific research. Dr. Pal also serves as an editorial board member of Cancer Research Journal, Journal of Oncology Research and Experimental Medicine, International, Journal of Immunology, Advances in Cancer Prevention, Cancer Medicine & Anti-Cancer Drugs, Journal of Cancer Science & Therapy, Journal of Clinical & Experimental Dermatology Research, Journal of Oncology Translational Research and Melanoma, and Consulting editor in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology.

Research Interest

The focus of my research work is to identify critical cellular and molecular targets involved in cancer development and progression, cancer prevention, and other inflammatory skin diseases. I am deeply involved to explore the molecular basis for cancer prevention through the use of commonly consumed dietary phytochemicals and synthetic agents. Understanding how these agents modify cellular function is important in devising effective preventive strategies against cancer. I have demonstrated that phytochemicals impart preventive/therapeutic effects against skin cancers in cell culture and animal models relevant to human skin diseases. I have published my research in several reputed international journal in the field of skin and cancer research such as Oncotarget, Cancer Letters, British Journal of Dermatology, Experimental Dermatology, Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, Photochemistry and Photobiology, PLoS One, Chemico-Biological Interactions, European Journal of Cancer, Toxicology in vitro and others. I have considerable experience in the area of carcinogenesis and cancer prevention with emphasis on cellular and molecular approaches.
