Li Ming Wen

Biography

Professor Li Ming Wen graduated from the Second Military Medical University (SMMU), Shanghai, China. After migrating to Australia, in 1994, He obtained Master of Medicine and PhD degrees from Sydney Medical School, the University of Sydney. Since 2006, Prof Wen has received > $2 million in peer-reviewed national and international competitive grants. He has published over 80 peer reviewed papers in high impact journals including Lancet, BMJ, JAMA Pediatrics and IJO. His current research interests include clinical trials and practice in the areas of obesity prevention, sexual health, physical activity, nutrition, active transport and tobacco control with specific expertise in the evaluation of health promotion initiatives. Prof Wen was the lead author of a paper titled ?Driving to work is associated with overweight and obesity: Findings from the 2003 New South Wales Health Survey? published in International Journal of Obesity in 2006. The study was one of few studies linking car use and overweight and obesity for the first time. He was an invited Lead Guest Editor for the Journal of Environmental and Public Health on the Special issue on the effect of active transport, transport systems and urban design on environmental and population health, which has now been published (https://www.hindawi.com/journals/jeph/si/891758/). Currently, He is an invited Lead Guest Editor for the Journal of Obesity for a special Issue on The Effect of Early Life Factors and Early Interventions on Childhood Overweight and Obesity.
