Momiao Xiong, Ph. D. Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Human Genetics Center, University of Texas School of Public Health; Program in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics & Systems Biology, Graduate School of Biomedical Science, UT Health and University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Xiong is trained in computer science, computational biology, statistical genetics and machine learning. Dr. Xiong graduated from Department of Statistics, University of Georgia in 1993 and was postdoctoral fellow from 1993 to 1995, working on computational biology with Michael Waterman at the University of Southern California. Dr. Xiong has developed novel statistical methods for changing the paradigm of association analysis from low dimensional data to extremely high dimensional data studies; for detecting gene-gene interactions with next-generation sequence (NGS) data. He has also developed novel causal network tools to analyze multiple traits and integrate genomic, epigenomic and clinical data, and developed efficient statistical methods for finding genetic variants of predictive utility.
Genomics and epigenomics of complex diseases, population genetics, bioinformatics, causal inference, big integrative genomic, epigenomic and imaging data analysis.
