Omkar Chaudhary

Biography
I was awarded Bachelor in Laboratory Medicine from School of Allied Health Science, Manipal University, Manipal in 2005. I completed Master of Science and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Department of Biochemistry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. After completing Ph.D., I moved to Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston for post-doctoral fellowship). My research journey commenced with my master’s in 2005. My master’s thesis involved finding out host genetic polymorphisms and published in reputed international journals. I continued my master’s research work in my Ph.D. and worked on exploring the role of dendritic cells in HIV infection and a part of my Ph.D. research work got published and remaining is under process. In January 2015, I moved to Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston as Postdoctoral Fellow in Division of Infectious Diseases. At present, I am working on Development of HIV vaccine candidates in SIV-Rhesus macaques model. In my research career that spans a decade, I have been awarded various travel grants like Global health travel awards for keystone symposia from Bill gates and Melinda foundation, AIDS Vaccine and International Society of Neuroimmunology and Scholarships from International AIDS Society and AIDS Vaccine. Apart from this, I have been also awarded for best poster and oral presentations at various conferences and meetings. In 2010, I availed short term training on “Virological, molecular biology and immunological aspects of dendritic cells and their function in HIV infection” under the Fogarty AIDS and Tuberculosis International Training and Research Program at New York University school of Medicine, New York.
