Pietro Fusaroli
Endoscopic Ultrasonography
Dr. Fusaroli graduated from the University of Bologna, Italy, with M.D. degree with distinction in 1994. Later during the same year, he became Italian Board-certified and started his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, which was completed by 1998. Dr. Fusaroli was then recruited to the University of Bologna in 2000 as Assistant Researcher and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2006. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) represents his main interest both for patients care and clinical research. He is also active in operative endoscopy and hepatology. He has been working in the hospitals of Castel San Pietro Terme and Imola, nearby Bologna, since 2002. In these locations he developed the first EUS program that facilitated multidisciplinary approaches to the diagnosis of various gastrointestinal diseases. He became an expert in pancreaticobiliary and gut wall benign and malignant conditions, contributing significantly to early diagnosis and improved staging. Additionally, he developed contrast harmonic EUS with contrast agents, transforming it from a prototype technique to a well-established one. Dr. Fusaroli lectured worldwide and participated in courses and live demonstrations, including the 2011 ASGE state of the art lecture on EUS at DDW. Dr. Fusaroli authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal publications and became member of the editorial board of Endoscopic Ultrasound in 2012. He has served on several academic and organizational committees of Italian EUS and gastroenterological societies. He is tutor of the Master in ââ
