Biography

I am an assistant professor of the Graduate Institute of Pharmacology at National Taiwan University. I received Ph.D. from the department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Cell Biology of Northwestern University, IL, U.S.A. in 2000. I then went to National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for post-doctoral training. In addition, I am a medical doctor and specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. My research interests include immune related disorders, immunotherapeutics and immunopharmacology. At present, my primary focus is on Fc receptors and their ligands. We weigh on the inhibitory Fc receptor, Fc?RIIB, and study its regulation and signal transduction using both in vitro and in vivo models. Since Fc?RIIB is the dominant inhibitory receptor in B cells, B-cell biology and antibody-mediated immune dysfunction, e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus, are current research topics. In terms of the ligand, we generated and characterized human therapeutic antibodies, e.g. influenza neutralizing antibodies.
