Biography

Dr. Shimelis was graduated from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok (Thailand) in Food Process Engineering and Bioprocess Technology; Moscow Applied Biotechnology Technology Institute in Dairy Processing Technology; and Bahirdar Polytechnic Institute in Industrial Chemistry. Dr.Shimelis worked for Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Industry Development Institute (Federal Ministry of Industry) as Deputy Director General. He also worked for Addis Ababa University as Food Process Engineering Program Chair Person, Associate Professor, Associate Dean of Students; Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) as researcher; Ethiopian Nutrition Institute (ENI) as food technologist; Private manufacturing industries as processing officer and team leader and Afar National Regional Agricultural Bureau as team leader; respectively. He provided services as consultant for various private agro-processing industries. Dr.Shimelis contributed in National Biotechnology roadmap development. Presently, Dr.Shimelis is working for Addis Ababa University as Associate Professor in School of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Food Process Engineering Graduate Program. Dr. Shimelis has a great aspiration to work in the areas of food processing technology research and development platform towards commercialization. Dr.Shimelis adopted best work philosophies and implements professional strategic-thinking with energetic career development.
