Abstract:

Considering sustainable perspective in planning energy future becomes one of the most influential issues in energy policy development. When national energy policy decision makers usually consider environmental perspective of future energy industry, social perspective is still neglected even though it can easily be considered with assessment of public perception of energy future. Sometimes general public and top energy experts priorities on energy industry development can differ significantly and this is a serious energy policy challenge that should be addressed when talking about sustainable energy. This manuscript will focus on differences between public perception and top experts assessment of sustainability of energy policy, energy sources based on survey of public perception and top energy experts delphi survey findings. Ideas will be discussed why such differences occur and how can we mitigate them.
