Bile duct injury is a serious surgical complication and often occur as a consequence of laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It has an incidence lower than 0.10% and the most common injury is the complete transection of the common biliary tract. It represents a severe problem that can lead to serious consequences. I propose to talk about this theme and try to follow this sequence: the biliary tract anatomic variations, classifications of these injuries (Strasberg/Bismuth), the mechanism of injury, why it occurs and some regional particularities, how it can be recognized, early or delayed repair, types of reconstruction of the biliary tree, present a case report, outcomes and IRCAD new recomendations of safe cholecystectomy
