To study the outcomes of fluid filled mini scleral contact lens in various clinical conditions. 19 patients fitted unilaterally or bilaterally with mini scleral lens in two year period were retrospectively reviewed. Patient demographics, ocular diagnoses, associated systemic conditions, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) before and after fitting and visual function questionnaire score (VFQ-25) were collected. All 19 patients were successfully wearing mini-scleral lens device for a period of 6-24 months. Most common reasons for fitting were moderate to severe dry eye syndrome including Stevens Johnson syndrome (group 1-n=9) and refractive problems including post RK, post INTACS, severe keratoconus and post-traumatic scars (group 2, n=10). Best corrected visual acuity (logMAR) improved with lens wearing in all cases, maximum in group 2. VFQ-25 improved in all patients but was statistically better in group 1. No serious complications were recorded for any of the patients. Use of mini scleral lenses is a paradigm shift in the non-invasive management of severe corneal disorders. The results and patient satisfaction scores are unreal.
