Abstract:

The process of deinstitutionalization of psychiatric patients after the Psychiatric Reform occurred in Brazil required a qualification of nursing teams for the qualified management of patients who arrive at psychiatric emergencies in psychic suffering. The objective of this study was to identify available evidence regarding care provided in emergency care in suicide attempts by nursing professionals. It is an Integrative Review study in the databases CINAHL, BDENF, PubMed / MedLine, SciELO, Scopus, COCHRANE and LILACS from March to April, 2017. The instrument validated by Ursi (2005) was applied in the collection of the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) was used. The sample of 4 articles showed that the care to the patients in a suicide attempt is not specific and that the professionals have reduced ability in the therapeutic communication. The synthesis of the data obtained in this research was grouped into three categories: Nursing and suicidal behaviour; Nursing and the behavioural therapeutic processes in emergency situations; Nursing and the therapeutic processes in emergency situations. Concomitant with the promotion of physical techniques, evidenced during nursing procedures in the routine of any emergency, it is emphasized that in the care of the victim in suicidal behaviour, the development of the behavioural therapeutic relationship is paramount, using, therefore, clinical and psychological methods in the approach to the patient in an attempt to commit suicide, always respecting their individuality and uniqueness.
