Abstract:

To evaluate the pattern and therapy results of presumed tubercular uveitis in endemic region We retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of 57 patients (114 eyes) diagnosed with presumed tubercular uveitis at Nusantara Eye Clinic Jakarta- Indonesia, between January 2015 and December 2017. Thirtyfive patients were women (61,4%) and 22 (38,6%) were men. Sixty-five eyes (57,0%) had pan uveitis uveitis, 35 eyes (30,7%) had intermediate uveitis, 14 eyes (12,3%) had posterior uveitis. Ninety-two eyes (80.7%) had granulomatous and 22 eyes (19.3%) had non-granulomatous. Fifty-two (91,2%) patients responded well to anti tuberculosis therapy. Systemic corticosteroids were added after few days in patients who had progressive ocular inflammation following anti-tubercular therapy. Conclusion: In this study pan uveitis is the most common pattern in patients with presumed tubercular uveitis. Most patients responded well to anti-tuberculosis therapy and systemic corticosteroids can be added in patients who had progressive ocular inflammation following anti-tubercular therapy.
