Anterior segment is the front portion of the eye. It includes the structures of the eye in front of the vitreous humor. The structures are cornea, iris, ciliary body and lens. Anterior segment surgery ranges from routine cataract extraction and lens implantation and few rarely performed surgery like permanent keratoprosthesis.
