Acute Pancreatitis Complicating Dengue Fever ? A Retrospective Observational Study.

ackground andobjectives: This study, conducted in South India, aims to investigate the occurrence of acute pancreatitis as a complication of dengue fever and to determine the mortality rate and risk factors in patients who developed acute pancreatitis. Subjects and Methods: By analyzing medical records from Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, the incidence, mortality rate, and associated risk factors of acute pancreatitis in dengue patients were assessed. The diagnosis of acute pancreatitis was based on the revised Atlanta criteria. Statistical analyses included Chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests, with a significance level set at p < 0.05. Results: A total of 702 dengue patients with an average age of 28.7 years were included.
